Awaodori Festival Children
I must be reaching that age when looking at pictures of coworkers children and going “awwww…. how cute!” is becoming totally natural. In the same way I found myself with a big grin and nodding approvingly at the performance of the children in the Awaodori festival in Koenji last month. Nothing bonds strangers so much as smiling at cute kids! Here’s a few of them: note the grim look of determination and absolute concentration on their faces! Some of these kids were more show offs than others, but they all did really well, probably much better than I would have, at that age. One little boy in particular, danced like possessed, totally in spirtit with the festival, and his team had him up front to lead the entire troupe! I was too much in awe to concentrate on taking photos. Enjoy!

Oh my! I love these (especially #4). And also #5– the little girl is so very solemn.
oh, so cute kids. Reminds me of all nephews and nieces back home in asia… my children when they were smaller, … and reminds me of all those east asian dances and acrobats one has to do in school before.
So cute cute kids really … so wonderful how those chubby cheeks can really be seen and in right places.. those tiny hands!… and the sweet smiles… but one can really see how they seem to be taking all these seriously… their parents must be very proud of them!
Oh so cute
I never get enough of Japanese children
The little boy in 4 is adorable
I don’t know if he sings or he yawns but he’s too much cute !!!
Isn’t he? I think he is trying to catch his breath and giving a good show at the same time! He was dancing really hard, and this was at the end of a long street so I assume he is getting tired…! Still he wouldn’t give up! He had the whole street in his hand, everyone was clapping and I think there were a few women screaming with delight when he started showing off! He’ll be a great performer some day! This Koenji festival is coming up again this month, so if you’re in Tokyo…!
Unfortunately no Tokyo, no Japan this year
Next year I hope ^^
Meanwhile I Iook forward your posts to satisfy my lack of Japan!
Thank you Lili! Too bad you can’t come over. These days (summer time) I see a lot of foreign tourists around Tokyo. Makes me nostalgic!
