New Camera – High Expectations
In my photo life there has been a few true-love affairs and quite a few misses. Starting with my first ever camera, a semi automatic Olympus Trip 35 that to this day takes the most amazing black white photos, to my mother’s Nikon FM that I just borrowed and never returned, and the Hasselblad 500CM that I still take out for a spin every now and then, to the sadly stolen Nikon F601 that was one of the best camers ever for color positives, to my trusty Nikon D90. But not all love lasts for ever and a few days ago I traded a bunch of old stuff in for a new bright young thing. These photos are some of the first I took, completely manual, absolutely no post processing, with a Nikkor 85mm f1.8. I think I am in love.
The pictures show a man installing the festival lanterns announcing the sponsors of this year’s Nakano Matsuri. I don’t think I’ll be in town over the next weekend though, so sadly I’ll miss it. Luckily, I’ll be in an even bigger festival, far away from Tokyo. I love my life.

I want your camera!
..strange … I have exactly the same lanterns given to me by a family friend on the Chinese Moon festival last october 3, which I was thinking of publicing in my blog later today.
Anyway, these are really extraordinary pictures of so many lanterns!….
I think the lanterns are all made by the same factory in Guangdong! I like the way they are used all over Asia, they give a nice warm glow to the cities.
