I love these statues of three cats with chop sticks outside a (you guessed it!) chop stick (in Japanese: ohashi) shop in Tokyo’s Omotesando district. The sign says “eigyouchuu” which means open for business. A good little set of characters to learn to recognize while traveling in Japan.

Oh my goodness. Add this to the list of things I need to pose with while in Japan. I love cats, especially cats in Japan. Ha!
I was wondering if you could tell me if the Japanese eat candy apples or caramel apples in the fall. I am working on my list of American gifts to take to our friends there.
Just walk down the Omotesando main street away from Harajuku and look out for the side street entrance with the sign “FCUK” (yes, the fashion brand) to your left. Enter that and walk about 70m straight. The cats are opposite Gold’s Gym!
They do eat both kinds of apples in the fall, usually they buy them from street vendors during festivals, but only red apples, so maybe your caramel Granny Smith’s will be a nice change over here! Also, Reese’s chocolate is popular, more so then Hersheys which is just plain weird.
I couldn’t resist sharing one of your photos on my own blog (http://breelundberg.tumblr.com/post/226215499/shop-decoration-cats-from-tokyobling-blog). Thanks for all the great photos and commentary, I enjoy your blog so much!
Hi Bree! You’re welcome! Thanks for your kind comment. I love your Moo cards, I have to get some for myself one of these days. Nice blog, I wanted to see more of your creations but I guess I will have to be patient until your Etsy shop goes live. If you have a chance, a year or two as a JET teacher here in Japan is something I really recommend. It will be an unforgettable experience for you.
Thanks for taking a look at my blog and site! I’m sure I’ll be posting up my own art again soon once I have some more work I’m really happy with. Definitely order a pack of Moo cards sometime, they’re a bit pricey but the quality makes up for it.
Everything I’ve heard about JET sounds like it’s a great experience. One way or another, I know I’ll be visiting Japan in the not-so-distant future.
Keep me posted on your travel plans!
