Temple at Night – Miyagi

Posted in Places by tokyobling on March 4, 2010

There’s not much photographically worth seeing in these photos, but how often do you get a chance to visit at temple at night? Most (if not all) bigger Japanese temples lock up before nightfall but I was lucky enough to be in Miyagi Prefecture’s Matsushima City when one of the local temples had a small concert and was open to the public even after dark. The music was fine and there was a beautiful long and winding temple garden path to explore. I really wish more temples could be open after dark. Darkness and cameras don’t go too well together, so please forgive the poor quality of these photos!

Thanks Romain! The smell of the wood stove and musty earth of fallen leaves would have been nice to be able to convey!

A friend on FaceBook suggested your site, and I am in awe of your eye and attention to detail in your photos! Simply breathtaking to me. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world!

    Hi,

I stumbled upon your blog and saw a lovely photo that you have on Miyagi. My friends and I are trying to put together a coffeetable book on beautiful Miyagi to pay tribute for the terrible disasters that happened in Japan.

Will you be able to allow us to use your photo for our book? Full credit will be given to the photographer.

Thanks. I look forward to your reply soon.

    Take good care.

    With love,

Hi Fanny, thank you for your kind comment. I agree to let you use the images in this post as long as 100% of all proceeds from book sales and other commercial aspects go towards charity for the people of Japan. Good luck and lots of love, Tokyobling
