Hermes Christmas Decorations

Posted in Places, Shops by tokyobling on December 11, 2011

This is beginning to get regular, me writing about the French fashion brand Hermes’ Christmas decorations! Here’s the latest one I saw last night in Ginza, at the main Hermes store. This is actually tucked away between the two main Hermes buildings in what is almost an ally that very few people use. I was waiting at the store and heard this almost eerie glockenspiel sound coming from the back and had to go out to check it out, pretty amazingly over the top when you consider the location! I wonder how many dozens of people will see this before Christmas is over? Still, thank you Hermes for always putting interesting stuff up for us!

I’ve been there on Saturday afternoon for a screening of a documentary movie in the small cinema on the 10th floor of “Maison Hermés”. To be honest, I didn’ t really like it. Interesting design (handbags riding a reindeer sleigh), yes. Unusual perspective (from above), yes. But it didn’t really impress me. It attracted a huge crowd of mobile phone cameras, though! I really pitied the owner of the small flower shop right next to this installation, as he has to listen to the chimes and bells all day long…

    Sorry for being so negative!

Haha… don’t worry about it! I was there at night and I didn’t see even a trace of any other shops in that alley. I thought it was only on during certain times of the day/night?
