Harajuku + Omotesando Fashion Check
I haven’t done a fashion check and to be quite honest, there’s been a distinct lack of absolute trends for the last two summers. The above average heat doesn’t help either, people dress as little and as lightly as possible, and in simple, easily washable airy garments. These have been the summer of the cheap wear once throw away fashion chain stores, like H&M and the domestic Uniqlo, as well as the usual suspects. From what I hear people are aiming for cheaper and simple clothes, cuts and colors. The only thing that you see more of this summer than last are hats, to protect against the harsh sun. Even make up is lighter than usual and practically everyone is wearing sandals these days, in Tokyo’s hip Harajuku and Omotesando districts. I took these photos right in front of my favorite Harajuku building, the only one in the area with real character! More fashion checks to come!

These are some dope pictures. Damn I have to really try and make a trip out to Japan or England next year for at least a week and half
Thank you Michael! Japan or England? Tough choice but you know where my vote would fall! (^-^;)
Great photos and finds! I sometimes really wonder how Japanese girls and guys can wear so much clothes in this scorching heat! I love how they layer and wish I could mimic it, but when I hit the streets during this season, my clothes come off layer by layer. haha
Haha… I am sure you fit right in over here! The summer has been brutal! (^-^) Can’t read your blog by the way… I get TOO HUNGRY! haha…
Hahaha I think I say “this summer was the worst” every year! My blog is sometimes like a grocery store – better to visit when full!
Haha… good advice! (^-^)
Amazing shots as always ! It has been a long time since you posted some pictures of people in street, hasn’t it ? I like these kind of shots the most – you can really feel what’s happening and trendy in Japan.
Absolutely, glad you noticed! Yes, I should do these more often, but time time time, is the problem! Still, in Harajuku all you need is a good spot, a decent camera and 15 minutes of free time to get pics like these…! (^-^)
Thanks for posting these! I was curious if people were dressing simpler since Japanese fashion magazine seemed to go the same way for their summer issues.
Thanks! I never check fashion magazine anymore, seeing it live on the streets everyday is easier… (^-^;) But recently I feel a bit nostalgic for the big fads we used to have even as recently as only 5-6 years ago… since then most people dress very similar. I was happy to see that local fashion is still alive in Fukuoka though, which might be passing Harajuku in stylishness thanks to the many trendy Korean tourists I guess?!
Uhh- I don`t see my picture here
I must have looked away just the moment you passed by in front of me… (^-^;)
