More Gorgeous Yukata Examples – Harajuku
More gorgeous yukata dresses in Tokyo’s fashionable Harajuku district. My favorite must be the first, the vintage looking pale white, black cat/temari patterned! And don’t miss the two handsome guys in yukata, which is of course much more rare than the girls dressing in this fantastic piece of fashion. There is only one other yukata with a non flower pattern, the butterfly one you can see two the left in one of the photos. I wish I was Japanese, then I’d dress in this kind of fashion every day!

I like the red fabric with the morning glory flowers. She is carrying cloth-wrapped packages for an added flair.

The while gossamer sash and the wicker basket must be the latest trend. It’s indeed rare to see young men wearing yukata. It also must be another trend. Did you note the cool way the morning glory girl has wrapped a wine bottle in furoshiki?
It has been a trend for a few years now I think! (^-^) And yes, there are more men wearing yukata recently, a very good trend I hope that we see next year as well! I noticed the furoshiki when it was mentioned in comments, it is really well done. I wonder is she did it herself? (^-^;)

I can’t tell you which one is my favourite as they are all so lovely, but I do love the hair accessories that go with the yukata also.

Interesting. So some people wear this traditional fashion just for fun any time? Neat. Believe me, it’s not often one sees younger Chinese folks in big cities who have money to wear a cheong-sam dress interpretation or even just a mandarin collared top.
In all my travels around China I have never seen anyone of any age wearing other than western clothes…!
I’m not surprised. People in China probably view traditional clothing styles as “old” and dead. A big yawn to them.
