Shiba Daijingu – Daradara Matsuri
Mid-September every year the grand shrine in Shiba, central Tokyo, holds a grand festival called the Daradara Matsuri (芝大神宮のだらだら祭り). It’s well over a week long but I took an hour to visit at the start of the main even, the dances and the omikoshi shrine parade. Here’s a few photos of the ladies performing a traditional dance in this very developed Tokyo downtown district area. It was gorgeous and very strange to see this place without cars and noisy smelly traffic. Imagine if central Tokyo could have days, maybe once a week or once a month without traffic? So nice to finally a see a photo of this type of obi. I have several but have never seen how they are worn. How about a better picture of the back?
