The Cats of Nara
That sounds like the title of a fantasy novel doesn’t it? Japanese people have a saying that you can judge the friendliness of a neighborhood by looking at its population of cats: if they are relaxed and well fed, the neighborhood is friendly and safe. If not, it’s probably not so friendly to people either. Judged by those standards the narrow streets of Nara Old Town must be very good as I met a lot of nice cats while walking around there a few weeks ago. Here are two, one elegant beauty and one grumpy old man! The first picture just cries out for a fun caption… can you think of one?

That first one really needs to be the pet of some evil mastermind villain. Or perhaps have a fake evil mastermind villain that sits in a rotating chair, but the cat does all the evil work.
Haha… yes! (^-^)
Maybe he’s not grumpy. Maybe he’s just being dismissive—as well as a lovely example of a classic silver tabby. All cats are experts at being dismissive.
(The boy who owns the Internet Meme “Grumpy Cat” made a little video explaining that his cat is a perfectly nice, happy cat that just happens to look…grumpy.)
Yes… I know it is futile to anthropomorphize our pets and animal friends, but it is fun! (^-^) I didn’t test this cat for grumpiness though. (^-^)
Reblogged this on Not An Original Content ATall.
Cats always want to take over the world, right? (^ – ^;)
I just got them some pretty tasty food, so they better be!
And one of them is currently in a ball sleeping by me smiling…so, I guess he is one lucky cat as well. =^ . ^=
If what you said about cats and owners is true, then I’m happy to see my cats being relaxed and fluffy since winter
If cats take after their owner’s personality then you must be very relaxed or at least wanting to be very relaxed! (^-^)
The first cat’s color seems amazing and rare!
It’s gorgeous isn’t it? (^-^)
