Shibuya Station At Night
I took these photos of the area between Shibuya station and the Hikarie building last summer, but forgot to post them, so here goes, the beautiful blue hour with a great sky! The Shibuya station and the area around it is going through a reconstruction phase that has been going on for over a decade and will probably be going on for a couple more! With a city the size of Tokyo you need to have a really long planning phase and I read somewhere that plans for how Shibuya would look in 2050 was drawn up already in the 1950s. If you have ever been in Tokyo, chances are that you have been one of the 2.4 million people passing through this station every day. Enjoy!

I recently came back from Tokyo–and yes, I passed through Shibuya. Your blog was my discovery, as I was trying to google some images of winter kimonos. I found myself reading and browsing here for a couple of hours before I realized that I’m in fact late for a work meeting! Your photography is beautiful, and I’m impressed by your composition and use of light and color.
Thank you for the kind comment Victoria! I hope you liked it as much as I do! And lovely blog by the way, may I suggest you look into one of my all time favorites, Fioria de Krizio from the early 90s? (^-^;)
Thank you. I’m myself partial to Krizia, so I need to revisit it. Krizia fragrances were so flamboyant and still elegant, and there is really nothing quite like them these days. By the way, if you ever stop by Shiseido store in Ginza, they have a collection of fragrances that are like time capsules (and are available only in Japan)–White Rose, Sasso, Suzuro. They really smell of another era.
I loved Tokyo. There are so many layers to it, and I already look forward to my next visit.
Oh yes, that is a great store! Even as a guy I enjoy going there! I didn’t know they had scents exclusively for Japan. I will give have to try them the next time I am in Ginza! (^-^)
Beautiful Tokyo! Love your night shots!
Thank you for the lovely comment Amy! (^-^)/
These photos give a whole new perspective on Sibuya!
Thank you Melsenpai! (^-^;) I can’t wait for the construction to be finished!
