Azabu – Afternoon Walk
Even a city the size of Tokyo slows down during the winter, especially from mid-january until Valentine’s, as many shops take the slow days to refurbish stores and plan new campaigns. I still wanted to show you what a quite Tokyo looks like so I took these snapshots while running an errand in Tokyo’s downtown Azabu district yesterday. Azabu is famous for it’s high concentration of foreigners and relatively expensive living, being very close to the fashionable Roppongi district. More exciting shots to come, but let’s enjoy a peaceful Tokyo at least a couple of times in a year!

I love Azabu Juban. When we lived in Tokyo, more specifically in Akasaka, I often visited there, it’s very quaint. There’s a wonderful little shop called Blue and White stocking all kinds of Japanese china and textiles, some very old and of course all in the blue and white colours. Stop by next time you are there, the owner, Amy is a long time expat (20 some years I believe) formerly from the US married to a Japanese man. So miss Japan, especially Tokyo and more specifically the little quaint places like Azabu.

Thanks for the interesting comment Angela! I really have to spend more time over there, so far I have never had any particular reasons to discover it more in depth! (^-^)
It must be a wealthy area: only one power line in all those pics. (Always wondered, given the earthquake zone, why more utilities are not put underground.)
I remember being in a car and needing to park in this neighborhood. The garages are so cool, with the spinning plate to get your car in and out.
It is wealthy indeed! I have that discussion often, but Japanese claim that it is easier to repair line above ground than underground in case of Earthquake, and since I am not an engineer I don’t know enough to even begin to question them (^-^;) Yes, the spinning plate garages are everywhere in Tokyo and the other big cities, combined with the car elevator it makes for very space economical car parking!
Looks so nice and clean!
It is nice, and very clean, as cities should be! (^-^)
