Tsuno Shrine – Miyazaki
Living in Japan you tend to get used to being around ancient things, so even this shrine that has been in continuos use from 837 A.D. tend to get overlooked by most tour books. Tsuno Shrine in the town with the same name is a gorgeous shrine in Miyazaki prefecture on the southern island of Kyushu. Tsuno Shrine is dedicated to the God of Nation-building, Farming, business and medicine, Okuninushi, one of the legendary founders of the nation of Japan and the patron God of the province. If you ever pass along the main highway of Miyazaki prefecture, take a few minutes at least to see this beautiful shrine. I was lucky to arrive just as the head priest was entertaining some guests with tea and cake, and he was kind enough to invite me as well.

The last one is a beautiful shot!
Thank you Amy! (^-^)/
I Love the shots with the trees.. they Look so majestic. And the bunny & rat ema is cute ^^
Thanks! Yes, these trees were planted with nothing but their natural life span in mind… the oldest shrines always have the largest trees!
