Last post was a little bit of a teaser for this one, more about the famous Ameyayokocho shopping street in Ueno. A must stop for tourists visiting Tokyo this is an area where you can basically anything you need in terms of clothes, food, make up, golf equipment and almost anything else you can imagine. The last time I walked through this street with my camera was also blogged, and again, and once more, perhaps you will notice the large increase of panda bears since just a little over two years ago. I took these at the very best hour for photography obviously.
If you’ve never been to Tokyo this picture is pretty meaningless, but I like it because it shows just how messily random some of the undeveloped stations around Tokyo really are. This is the entrance to the famous shopping street Ameyayokocho (one of the must sees for all tourists that visit Tokyo), as seen from Ueno Station. The building in the middle used to house Sakuraya home electronics mega store, but after the chain went under a few years ago their competitor Yodobashi Camera has taken over the multi floor building. It’s mid-February but they still haven’t gotten rid of the Christmas decoration. Also note the panda image on the building, you literally can’t avoid seeing it every where you turn in Ueno!
