Shibuya Station At Night

Posted in Places by tokyobling on January 16, 2013

I took these photos of the area between Shibuya station and the Hikarie building last summer, but forgot to post them, so here goes, the beautiful blue hour with a great sky! The Shibuya station and the area around it is going through a reconstruction phase that has been going on for over a decade and will probably be going on for a couple more! With a city the size of Tokyo you need to have a really long planning phase and I read somewhere that plans for how Shibuya would look in 2050 was drawn up already in the 1950s. If you have ever been in Tokyo, chances are that you have been one of the 2.4 million people passing through this station every day. Enjoy!

Shibuya Hikarie – Shibuya’s Newest Building

Posted in Places, Shops by tokyobling on May 4, 2012

Shibuya Hikarie (渋谷ヒカリエ) is the latest of all the new commercial buildings popping up like mushrooms all over Tokyo at the moment. Just days after the new building in Omotesando/Harajuku we have the opening ceremony of Shibuya Hikarie. When I got there it was already packed with people and I could hardly find an empty spot to shoot from so please forgive me for the boring snapshots in this post. I’ll have to go back and get some more of the interiors as well as some night time exteriors! The building is 182.5 meters tall and has 34 floors, most of them commercial or office.
