Ninja Crepe
I didn’t know it, but apparently the (rather famous) restaurant chain “Ninja” has recently opened in Kyoto (I know it from their great place in Akasaka-Mitsuke central Tokyo). Not to be content with great food and great service they have started up a crepe stand next to their restaurant, complete with staff dressed up as ninja fighters. The crepe itself is black (naturally), from some rather interesting ingredients. If you’re into the Japanese crepe thing, I really recommend it. I don’t know if there’s any Ninja crepe stands in Tokyo though. Enjoy!
Ninja, Ninja (W)rap
Go Ninja, go Ninja, go!

Thanks for sharing that blast from the (not so recent) past! Soooo happy we did not have YouTube in the 80’s!

Yes, I had to try it. The black crepe was great! The filling… hm… let’s just say that too much cream has never been my cup of tea really. (^-^;)

Hi Originee! Thanks for you comment. I found their home page, click Access to find a good map. It’s off the main street of Kyoto so should be easy to find.

hi tokyobling! i am back from kyoto and thanks for your link to Ninja restaurant’s website. I managed to find the place and had the Ninja crepe. The black crepe is special. My crepe came with a cute little piece of cracker in the shape of shuriken.
I visited the restaurant too. I was a fun place to be with Ninjas as your waiter/waitresses and there is even ninja magic performance at your table while you have your meal.
Thanks for blogging about this.

I’m glad to hear that you had a good time and enjoyed that restaurant! I have been to their Tokyo location and I enjoyed it a lot. I am not surprised they haven’t changed the concept one bit since then! It’s been 6-7 years since I’ve been there. The ninja magic guy at my table was amazing. I can’t stand card tricks generally but he had one at the end that was the best I’ve ever seen… Won’t spoil it by telling it though!
