The Campagna T-Rex
While taking a late night walk in Tokyo’s financial district the other week I came across the coolest trike I have ever seen. It is a Campagna T-Rex made by a Canadian company called Campagna Motors. I agree that the Japanese connection is weak, but hey, it’s really blingy, super cool, and it is parked on the streets of Tokyo. How much more Tokyobling can you get? In Japan it is classified as a three wheeled vehicle but in North America it is called a reverse trike. I think. I know about as much about cars and motor vehicles as a 14th century French peasant would know about quantum physics.
To run this “trike” in Tokyo you need an ordinary drivers license and a parking spot (which would probably cost much more to buy than the vehicle itself). Now, if only they could design working copies of the trikes used in the animated movie series Macross.

what happens if it rains? I don’t think even just wearing a raincoat would stop the car being flooded well…….

I live in Canada, and haven’t seen these on the road before! Very cute, but it would probably have to be stored away in a garage most of the year (winter: snow, spring and fall: rain). Thanks for sharing!

nice trike..
I’m not sure if it’s the picture or not, but the trike is kinda low…very close to the ground.
It must be hard to navigate around when you can’t see? – I mean, if this trike drive close to another ‘normal’ vehicle, you wont see it.
I wonder how fast it can go?

It sure was close to the ground, compare with the photos where there’s people next to it. I do not drive myself, so I wouldn’t know, but there is something to be said for having high ground when you need to see what is around you… Still, it looks so darn cool!

yup.. the trike looks pretty cool. – I don’t think it has an ordinary owner. – must be someone speciel or someone with high(or strange) sense of fashion.
If someone drove by on a empty road with a car like that, everyone would definitely look and admire it (I would)
But if this car drove by during rush hour, I can’t help but laughing. – Lots of big vehicle and then a tiny one among them. It’s like seeing a kid dive by with a car toy (or is it toy car?) on a big road ^^

It is the perfect toy for rich people, hardly anything you use to go work of grocery shopping. Where I live in Tokyo, even bicycles are a pain in the neck. Walking beats everything around here!

Indeed! There are so many different versions of the series out that I can’t even find the title of the one featuring a very similar bike. Got to love the original series though! In my defence, I must say that I watched it when I was a little kid… (^-^;)

That is the coolest bike/trike I have ever seen. Wow. It made a profound impression on me.
I just can’t imagine something that cool anywhere but in Japan especially. When I was in Tokyo, the countryside and many houses in Tokyo still have visits from the honey bucket wagons.
