Black Swan

Posted in Animals, Places by tokyobling on December 25, 2011

Merry Christmas everyone! I am having a quiet Christmas, perhaps it is time to post something un-christmassy. Here is a beautiful black swan (Cygnus atratus) that I met in Nagoya late last month. In Japanese they are called kokuchou (黒鳥). Lately I have become a little of a bird fanatic. The photo is in original huge size, in case you want something new for your desktop.

God Jul till dig också! Thank you for the pretty bird. Actually I’ve never seen a black swan (except in a ballet!)

Thank you Kes and welcome back! We’ve missed you! It sure is a beautiful bird! I wonder if it can mate with regular swans?

        I’ve miss your blogs too.

Mate and become grey swans? … maybe its not a bad result 🙂

Merry belated Christmas!!! I had a quiet Christmas too. I liked it though, minimal stress.

Can you think something is pretty, but be a little spooked by it. I think it’s the red eyes and the jet black feathers. While the contrast and coloring is stunning, there is something a little frightening about it.
