Young Birds
A just over two months ago I was taking a walk along Tokyo’s Sumida River and sat down to eat some bread in the warm spring sun. It didn’t take long before I was surrounded with some fabulously healthy looking birds. I think a healthy city has healthy looking birds! I know this is nothing special to do with Tokyo, but it’s great fun and good practice to go out and “shoot” some bird portraits every now and then. Some of these birds were so close I could have touched them! I know a lot of people don’t like pigeons so I only include one pigeon photo, but personally I love them.
They are dancing in the air!

That’s what I thought! Some of these photos were easy to take, the bird were just hanging in the air!

All birds are wonderful, especially pigeons! I love your bird posts, especially the one about the lunch snatching kites 🙂

Thank you Carrie! I agree! I would be a happier person if I could find a job working in an aviary I think…

Hmmm…these little pigeons are different from the ones here. They seem prettier. Your bread and bird story reminded me of when I was a little girl in this one elementary school (we moved a lot when I was a kid) it was called Ocean View and there were tons of seagulls that would come by. I was not a big eater as a kid, so I would through my bread to them. It was all fun, until someone got pooped on. Did that stop me from doing it again the next day, not really…

Haha…! A little poop never hurt anyone! And who cares, I we still love birds! (^-^;)

It’s funny when you’re eight and poop is the big drama of the day. It does wash off, but it’s just so unexpected.
I love birds too, but in flocks I am intimidated. There is a flock of parrots in my neighborhood. It started with just two parrots, and as the years passed their numbers grew. They come every summer, this mass of green and determined birds, and make a great deal of noise. It reminds me of that Hitchcock movie “The Birds”.

I would love to live in a place that had wild parrots living outside my house! (^-^)

My theory is that two little parrots broke free of their captors and started this gang of parrots.
