Tokyo Midtown Park
Every summer Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi puts on a lot of special activities, this year it’s a water and lights show at nights and a place to cool your feet at day. Or you can just hang out in the garden with food and drinks. It’s been an extraordinarily hot summer here in Tokyo, not many days below 35 degrees and even the nights are unbearably hot, so these water mist fountains and streams of fresh water really helps! Tokyo Midtown is located between Roppongi station and Nogizaka station.

Mid 90s and high humidity sound so hot, but your photos don’t betray that! Everything looks cool. The third pic has that sparkly sunshiny summertime feel (or at least the ideal of summer — found myself digging out fleece for the first time in weeks upon landing in San Jose in the evening)
What are the rocks? flower petals? for in the second to last pic?

Tokyo hotter than San Jose? Wow! Thank you for the kind comment! (^-^) The little white rocks is to keep the reed mats in place, the water runs downstream with a quite strong flow.

Oh duh, now I see the reed mats at the bottom of the canal/river/ditch…
San Jose is in the Bay Area, which even in the inland parts would never get as hot and humid as Tokyo (and it always cools down at night thanks to the “fog”, thus the need for layers even in summer. I forgot to bring a fleece with me to Vegas last month, because the thought of anything more than shorts and a polo was nauseating in that heat. Fly back to SFO at night and felt like a tourist!).
I think the most equivalent Tokyo summer city here would be Miami, without the beaches. Or maybe New Orleans or Dallas. And I’d be hiding in A/C just like I did growing up…at least you don’t have mosquitoes there. Hopefully.

Ah! I was there last week but I missed the park! zannen! :p
It looks really relaxing, especially when I looked at the stones inside the pool.
However, there’s another funny thing in Tokyo Midtown, which is there were some of wooden tables located inside the main mall where we could get animal stamps! 🙂
Anyway, thanks for your tips back then!

Glad to hear you had a good time! Yes, I think I saw some animal extra or stamps or something. (^-^;) The park is out on the back, and not very inviting when you are enjoying a bit of air conditioning inside the main building!

Great photos! I really love how the second one makes the viewer feel like their sitting at the table. Looking at those on my iPhone makes me for get that I’m in my living room.

In the last weeks, I could have killed for that water and the chance to get cooled down by something like that…even here in the outer parts with all the greeneries, it was still hot every day.
