Bow Hair

Posted in People by tokyobling on September 20, 2012

Or should I call it hair bow? I saw this gorgeous hair setting in Tokyo’s Omotesando district the other day. Isn’t it fantastic? I know there are preset wigs in this shape to buy but this looks so realistic. Oh, and before anyone mentions it, it does look like she is giving me the finger! I can assure you that no Japanese would do something as rude! She is holding her soft drink bottle and bag while tapping away on her phone though.

I’ve never seen this hair style. Is it popular these days? I’ll show it to my daughter with long hair. She may want to try it.

I have seen it once or twice, not common at all! I think she would look great in this! (^-^)

Did the hair bow sway? I think it’s probably her own, but with padding underneath, it’s a bit difficult to get the hair like that without tremendous amount of hairspray. At work we have a lot of longhaired women and you do see a lot of hairsetups… 🙂 And even before, when all girls wore long hair they did have padding/ or other tricks.

I didn’t see her moving, so I don’t really know. It looks much too perfect not to be a wig, the more I look at it… (^-^;)

Lovely – my hair has no weight, like baby hair, and wouldn’t ever hold spray for long. Really good hair like this holds gel and spray well and in this case produces a simple but extremely effective styling. Thanks so much for sharing it

Thanks! Well, Japanese hair is incredible thick and strong, very much unlike us poor Europeans with our flaxen wisps… (^-^;)

That’s her index finger, not her digitus impudicus* so not a rude gesture even accidentally.

The hair-bow hair effect is interesting. I also remember seeing “cat ear” hair arrangements. Asian hair tends to be…less fine and more amenable to shaping. I remember one Chinese woman being taken with my soft, fine hair (her: “Like silk!”) while I admired her hair for its body and substance (me: “Strong, not limp and lifeless”).

Haha… well, I showed this photo to a friend who’s first reaction was “is she giving you the finger?!” so I thought I should mention it before anyone thought that she was being rude. (^-^) I have had similar experiences with many Asian people, my hair is completely the opposite of theirs!

Creative, I love it! I remember my days back then with my much longer hair. I also tried lots of things like this, but I realised my hair don’t want any of it..:|

Although you don’t see people wearing this hairstyle on the street very often, it’s VERY common in American fashion blogs and tutorials. It’s nice to see that some people do actually dare to wear their hair like that in real life!

I had no idea this was big in Australia! Nice! Would love to see it again, in the wild!
