Kyoto Jidai Matsuri Beauties
Among the 2000 participants of the Kyoto Jidai Matsuri, or the festival of the ages, there were quite a few beauties. I really wish I had been able to find a better angle for my photos, but at least I got a good place in the shade. Looking at these I feel a pang of regret at not having bought the accompanying pamphlet explaining the history behind all the wonderful costumes. Some of them are absolutely wonderful! More photos to come. Enjoy!

Wow, that looks amazing! I wonder what the costumes mean like you said. Love the lens flare in the last shot.

I am in love with your photos (These Jidai Matsuri one’s in particular are awesome). I’ve been interested in Japanese culture and language since my sophomore year in high school. I love to draw and don’t really know how to draw kimono correctly because I don’t have any good references. These images will really help me to render the kimono in a believable fashion. Thanks for posting. I hope to visit Japan one day. 🙂

Thank you for the kind comment! Drawing kimono can be so difficult. Have you been to Japan? There are hundreds of books with characters in different clothes and poses here that many drawers like! For example this one: http://www.amazon.co.jp/キャラポーズ資料集-着物キャラ演出編-ゴー・オフィス/dp/4766123328
