Umenohana – Plum Blossoms

Posted in Nature by tokyobling on February 27, 2013

It is late February and the first flower to blossom in Tokyo has finally awoken from the long winter sleep – the wonderfully dark pink plum blossom! I found this little tree in Minami Aoyama near Roppongi here in Tokyo, and not far from this I found a tiny cherry tree also in bloom, about a month early! It seems the spring is finally on its way, hurry up dear spring!

      Thank you Cathryn! I have never been to California, but would love to see the variety of flowers you have over there! All the citrus flowers for example!

    Hi. Lovely color; I’m not at all sure I’ve seen a var as intense as that here. The blossoms should smell nice, if they are like other ume I’ve encountered.

      Thank you Jon! I think my nose was too blocked by the pollen season yearly allergy to feel anything…. (^-^;)

    As always, your photos are truly lovely. In fact, your fantastic depth-of-field technique inspired me to experiment with my little camera, and even though my photos aren’t a patch on yours, I got a few at Ookura Kouen in Yokohama last weekend! Have put a link to yours from my blog post so my readers can come and enjoy your pictures too! ^^;;

    Rain, then snow, now dense fog around here. The snowdrops are buried again. No sign of bud swell anywhere. *sigh*

        The turkey vultures have returned! The snow is melting!

        More medical problems for me, though the prognosis is very good. 8^(

            Oh, my doctor was SO happy with my progress at my yearly exam. Best! Exam! Ever! Yeah!!!

            Then he handed me a requisition for a mammogram…which has complicated my life, but may have saved it.

    Absolutely beautiful. I’m a big lover of Spring because of blossom trees.
    One day I will see the blossoms in bloom in Japan.

    Haven’t seen any yet over here in the UK, which makes me quite sad. Hope this Winter weather ends soon!
    Bring on Spring! ^_^

    Thank you for posting these, I was going to ask you to post them here too. I already have the smaller version on my phone lock-screen and now one of these adorns my desktop background.

    Hope the nice weather is gonna help them to show some flowers like these soon!
    Thanks for the lovely pics!
