Inuyamayuen – Aichi Prefecture

Posted in Places by tokyobling on March 8, 2013

A few months ago I visited Aichi prefecture and the city of Inuyama, famous for its beautiful castle and turbulent history. To get there from Tokyo most people pass through Nagoya and head north to Inuyama station, but I wanted to get the most of the beautiful day so I continued on the train for one more station up to Inuyamayuen, just on the edge of the Kiso river that separates Aichi and Gifu prefectures. You can see Gifu prefecture on the other side of the river in these photos! Leaving the station I also found this really funky looking restaurant building with two very colorful dogs outside. Seeing the castle from the river side is one of the best ways to view it I think. More photos of the castle to come!

Nice photos, they bring back pleasant memories of my trip to Inuyama and the castle. The castle has a fantastic view from the top. Did you take a boat ride on the river?

Thank you for the kind comment Patricia! I didn’t take a boat ride though, I didn’t see any boats, it might been off season for them! (^-^;) Next time!

The name sake, Inuyama-yuuen should have an amusement park kind.
Was it not in sight from the station or you didn’t go ?

The restaurant looks really funny. —– and “night pub” was written in Roma-ji “Naito Pabu”
was as funny as Gaijin having Kanji-tattoo upside down.
    Good report.

Hi Yoshizen! Yes, there used to be (until just a few years ago) a connection to a private train line connecting the station with some sort of park (a monkey park I think), but neither was it in sight nor was I intending to go there. I went straight towards the river and the castle! The restaurant is cool, I wish I could have stopped to have a bite, but it was a little bit too early for me to get stuffed. (^-^;) I think they were doing a little bit of everything at that place, cafe, restaurant, pub, etc. I have no idea what a night pub is supposed to be…. haha…

That restaurant worth a try even it’s only the looks you ge for starters! If they make foods and drinks with the creativity put in the design, it can’t taste bad!
