More Yokohama Cherry Blossoms
The second batch of Sakura or Cherry blossom photos I took for the Special.T commercial campaign back in spring. This was on one of the very few truly fine days of the spring so I got out and took as many photos as I possible could. I saw one happy couple having their wedding photos taken in the famous park on top of the Yamate area near Yokohama’s Yamashita park. I hope they had a great marriage and a big party afterwards! Just looking at these photos make me long for next year’s cherry blossom season!
That newly wed couple looks cool! (Did you give your card for them to see your blog ? )
White cherry seems to be more popular in England than in Japan isn’t it ?
(It said to be originated from China hence Chinese calls it Taipak)

I didn’t! I didn’t want to disturb them or their hired photographers… (^-^;) I have actually never seen cherry blossoms in England (or anywhere in the UK). Next time I visit I will keep an eye out! (^-^)

Yokohama… a very old city indeed. My dad was stationed there as part of the US 8th Army’s Occupation Force after the war. I’m sure these cherry blossoms were planted after that as he said there was very little left standing. Beautiful shots.

Yes, Yokohama was basically leveled. I can’t think of a single structure or tree older than 1945. I hope your dad had a good time though! Thank you for the kind comment!

He enlisted for service to check on his mother and others. They were in Hiroshima; he was in one of those camps when the bomb was dropped. He managed to take two duffle bags full of C-rations and Spam as they had little food. His high school was wiped off the cityscape.

What a story! I hope you managed to get him to write his memoirs! Every little detail counts!
