Isetan x Klaus Haapaniemi – Christmas Decorations
This year again, the famous Isetan department store in Shinjuku is putting on a christmas decorations campaign illustrated by Klaus Haapaniemi, the Finnish artist. Isetan and Haapaniemi has been collaborating for quite some time and the stories keep getting more and more elaborate, even with some recurring characters. This year the story seems to be more complicated and the interior decorations are as great as always. It is good to see that some department stores are not afraid to be different even during Christmas shopping season! I blogged about it in 2009. There is a site accompanying the decorations, complete with video and rather good song available for download.
Interesting! I’m spending time in Shinjuku these days. I’ll have to check this out…

In this field, the Selfridge in London has the history 50 years ahead still, Isetan did good try though,
haven’t they found any good talent among the Japanese artist ?
(I couldn’t see the taste much in common with Japanese trend.)

I think there are plenty of talented Japanese artists (they usually use local talent) but this artist is excellent too and it is good to expose Japanese artists for foreign excellence too, sometimes! (^-^)

When I was in Japan, I once accompanied My Friends to ISetan. According to estimates I, ISetan it is a place of horror. Because the Indonesian, Setan means ghost. Turns ISetan not like that I imagine. Hahaha …
