Kimono Beauties – Seijinshiki 2014

Every now and then I knocked to the floor of just how fantastic Japan is. There are so many little things that make up the whole, even if you can’t see the forest for all the trees, you can find any amount of cool stuff, great people or heart warming customs to enjoy. One of the first things that floored me where the beauty of the national dress, the kimono. Even after decades in Japan I still stop and stare like a tourist every time I see a kimono on the streets of Tokyo. I guess it is a good thing that I still look like a complete tourist most of the time, map, note books and camera in hand! This weekend is the peak of the graduation ceremony season here in Japan and a great opportunity to see people that are just stunning in their style and grace, or lacking grace, at least a heart warming cuteness, both young men and women. Having the vast majority of my days tightly scheduled makes it hard for me to go out and enjoy it as much as I want to, so instead I went through some of the photos of this year’s seijinshiki ceremony, as I saw it at Tokyo’s grand Meiji Shrine. The young women looked fantastic and I just wanted to share some of the photos with you. Looking forward to the coming of age ceremony in 2015 already!
