Yurakucho Hidden Alley
Neatly hidden underneath the railroad tracks right in between the Yurakucho and Shimbashi stations in Tokyo’s cental Chiyoda Ward I found a very neat hidden alley of restaurants, ramen bars and eateries. The quaint looking restaurant at the front and their spinning wheel of dried fish stopped me and that was how I noticed the tiny entrance to the alley underneath the train tracks itself. I didn’t have time to stop and eat but I will be heading back for sure on of these days! To find the alley, just head along the track either north of Shimbashi station or south of Yurakucho station and have a look around whenever there is a street crossing under the tracks. You’ll be sure to find it!
Fantastic!!!! This is just such a wondeful, I pined that for my next trip. It’s probably how japan was in the 50’s in my sense, right?!

Probably, not sure how old this one is though. I got a feeling it was “new”. It still looks great though. Like a movie set.

It says, Japan Festival, open from evening till morning, all kinds of meat (pork, chicken, horse, whale) and fish from various parts of Japan

I think the hand-written sign says (upper right) gyoza (pot-sticker dumplings) but I’ve exhausted my knowledge with that. I know very few kanji.
The Kinryo sign says yakitori (grilled chicken).
Now I’m hungry and it is still two hours until lunch!!!

I love such an alley in Japan. It’s shockingly clean! I wonder who will order gyoza and have it delivered to the restaurants in the same alley?

Tip for anyone trying to find this place: navigate to “魚○本店” on Google Maps, you’ll be right there. The area is called “Bunka Yokocho” (culture alley), but putting that name in will get you to the wrong location.
