Gokokuji Temple Cats

Posted in Animals, Places by tokyobling on April 14, 2015

Almost every temple in Japan has a few stray cats hanging around and the big Gokokuji temple is not an exception, harboring a small army of them. Obviously the word “stray” might be misnomer, these cats look very well fed!

I always wonder why stray cats in Japan looks so healthy. Is everyone in their neighborhood always feed them?

A country where fish is a staple? Sounds like paradise for a cat!!! If everybody there has a stray piece of fish to share, then a cat must have it made in Japan. If I have to be reincarnated as a cat, then I hope I wind up there!
