Star Wars Cosplayers

Posted in People, Places, Wonder Festival by tokyobling on February 21, 2011

Some fantastic Star Wars cosplayers from this years Winter Wonder Festa in Chiba’s Makuhari Messe. The stormtrooper looks great (I guess the technical term for this kind of costume play is sandtrooper) and the TIE Fighter Pilot in his repurposed rider’s jacket looks so cool. My favorite however, was the young lady doing a great young Obi Van Kenobi. She looks fantastic! You might also remember the Ghostbusters cosplayers I posted before, here is a posed photo of them preparing to blast something slimey. Love the attention they spent on all the details of their great costumes!

More cosplayers from this great event coming up.

Mecha Sculpture

Here’s another great find at the Winter Tokyo Wonder Festa a couple of weeks ago. This fantastic sculpted (well, more like welded) mecha (although the creator calls it a power suit) drew a lot of attention. Imagine if this guy could be given a couple of aces of abandoned industrial wasteland or woodlot somewhere? In case you want to exhibit this piece of, well, junk, you can contact the creator. I guess the postage will be pretty hight though!

More Itasha – Anime Cars

Posted in Places, Wonder Festival by tokyobling on February 11, 2011

Last week I visited, again, the twice-yearly WonderFesta convention in Chiba, the prefecture next to Tokyo and perhaps most famous for the Narita international airport. Like last year there were some Ita-sha on display, many more than last year though! It seems more car makers are getting in on the fun, and there were a couple of very fun looking customized bikes as well. Enjoy!

Anime Cars

Posted in Wonder Festival by tokyobling on August 14, 2010

It doesn’t happen often these days, but sometimes even I am flabbergasted by the stuff I see around here. Take these two cars for example. Now, I have seen a lot of souped up “anisha” (アニ車, the Japanese term for anime-car, or a car decorated by an anime loving owner) over the years, some of them with dozens of video screens inside, or huge stickers covering their paintwork etc. But these Lamborghini are so much over the top I have no idea what it is all about, who made them or why. Still, here they are, the two most overly decorated Lamborghini cars in the world. Don’t repost this on a car lover’s forum, they’ll probably go crazy.

Sorry about the terrible photos, I was in a hurry passing through Wonder Festival 2010 and didn’t even have time to stop and interrogate the exhibitors of these cars. In hindsight, I should have spent a few more minutes here! Enjoy!
