It’s been awhile since I blogged about soft drinks, but I found these two different label variations of the new winter Pepsi, Pepsi White. I think there is a third as well but I am not that desperate to get a perfect collection! The new ones made me think about an old one from the summer, Salty Watermelon, that I had bought but forgotten about. I still haven’t tried any of them but, if you’d like to give me a review I’d be happy! The winter Pepsi is Winter Mikan flavored, coming from the Japanese custom of staying snug and cozy under the kotatsu (a heated table common in many cold Japanese homes) while eating mikan. The summer one comes from another common Japanese custom of ever so slightly salting their watermelon to get a more intense flavor!
Move over Pepsi Shiso and Pepsi Cucumber! I have a new quirky Pepsi favorite: the Pepsi Pink with a pink strawberry and milk flavor. Sure I know it’s just sugared water with artificial flavors (at least that’s what the label says), but it’s quite tasty. I think I might have to get a bunch of these. According to the label they expire in April 2012 so you’ll have until then! Another hit by Pepsi Japan.
If you’ve been reading this blog for a few months, you’ll probably know of the Tokyobling Manifesto. In particular, the thing that I only blog about things I like. Today is no different! I do love the way Pepsi releases a few novelty drinks every few months. I’ve posted before about the Shiso Pepsi and the Azuki Pepsi, and I still remember fondly, the Cucumber Pepsi. All great drinks, fun and good tasting. Today however, as much as I applaud Pepsi, their latest drink might not be quite as great as the earlier ones in the series. Pepsi Mont Blanc. Tasting and smelling like, a Mont Blanc cake. I’m not a big fan of Mont Blanc cakes so I wouldn’t know how well they pulled it off, but the drink itself was, well, let’s just say it wasn’t as good as the other ones. Still, my hat is off to Pepsi for yet another crazy off the wall one time drink!
