Wooden Vending Machine

Posted in Places by tokyobling on December 22, 2009

In the subpromenade between Tokyo Midtown and Roppongi Station I saw this art installation: a complete soft drink vending machine carved in wood or clay (couldn’t really tell). I failed to get the name of the artist but I love the way even the trash cans on the ground are carved in the same material. The vending machine has all the details, like the suica card reader and change lever. Fantastic! Like some sort of modern Japanese cargo cult.

    What no Pocari Sweat? 🙂

Love the shop installations in Tokyo. Don’t get anything like it anywhere else!
